We'd like to introduce you to Kayla and and her grandmother, Michelle. Kayla lives with her grandmother permanently now because her home situation was unsafe.

After this housing transition Kayla was behind in school. For Kayla, being behind in school started to affect her socially. It was embarrassing, and she avoided social situations.

Kayla's grandmother asked the school counselor about tutoring, but the cost was an insurmountable barrier. Knowing that the child you love needs something but being unable to provide it is hard.

So, when her school counselor reached out for help, we jumped at the opportunity to find Kayla a tutor and helped her get set up and ready.

Almost every day, we hear from school administrators and social workers who work with kids and families needing more support. Our goal is to make it easy for them to connect the kids to whatever they need, helping them to build stronger relationships.

Whether it’s tutoring, tickets for a school event, summer camp, or clothes, if it matters to the kids they work with, it matters to us.

Kayla is now thriving in middle school and loves spending time with her friends. What warms my heart the most is that she participates in a community engagement club, helping other students in need.
